Chalkstream Fly Fishing Tackle Packages With all the Essentials Delivered Direct to Your Fishing Cabin Door.
Fly fishing on the UK chalkstreams is a fine art. Gin clear waters, wily trout, and the constant demand for that perfect, delicate fly presentation defines a level of finesse that is simply unmatched in any other discipline of the sport. Of course there is plenty of technique and skill involved, but if you don't have the right equipment in the first place, you are surely fighting a losing battle.
If you are travelling from afar, or perhaps you just don't have the right outfit for the job, why not charter the chalkstreams in style with our bespoke tackle packages. We have developed a specialist collection of chalkstream fly fishing outfits complete with all the top of the line tackle, equipment, and flies from household brands like Orvis, Snowbee, and Fulling Mill. Everything you need for your adventure on the chalkstreams.
They are available to hire all season so no more visions of snapped rods in the luggage hold, simply choose between the aptly named Halford, Walton, and Greene, and we will deliver your outfit to your local accommodation, or direct to your fishing cabin door! The Halford pack is the one to pick if you are entertaining guests, with outfits for up to 4 people, plus cigars and light refreshments all included. The Walton is the one for all-rounders, with outfits for 2 people and the option to add more if you wish. The Greene pack is perfect if you are planning to explore the chalkstreams on your own, with an outfit and flies for one person.
We include a generous selection of seasonal flies with every outfit, and the tapered leaders and tippets are also adjusted according to seasonal requirements. There is the option to add additional tackle and equipment such as supplementary tapered leaders or tippets if you wish, plus our dedicated wading kit; which includes a pair of durable waders in all sizes, and a lightweight wading staff.
Frederic Maurice Halford was the author of Dry Fly Fishing in Theory and Practise (1889), and widely hailed as the father of dry fly fishing. FM Halford’s writings grapple with all the nuances of fly fishing we know today; tackle, technique, entomology, fly selection, and trout behaviour, and his work is proudly celebrated by fly fishers all around the world. It is for all these reasons, and many more, that we have named our flagship chalkstream tackle package in commemoration of his contributions to fly fishing.
The Halford outfit comes complete with four fly rods, accompanying reels and floating line, four long handled nets, four Wilde Trout fly vests, caps and polaroid glasses, tapered leaders and tippet material, flotant, dry shake, and a fly box rammed to the hilt with all the seasonal chalkstream essentials.
We also throw in some light refreshments and a pack of special Cuban cigars for good measure. With all the tackle, equipment, and flies required for four people, plus a little something from our friendly local artisans to say thank you, this is champagne chalkstream fly fishing at its finest.
Izaak Walton is best known as the author of The Compleat Angler (1653), a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing. Walton did not profess to be an expert in fishing by the fly, but it was his propensity to try his hand at every discipline of angling that inspired us to commemorate his work with this chalkstream tackle pack for every occasion.
The Walton outfit is fully equipped to cater for two people, with specialist fly rods, reels and lines, long handled nets, wilde trout fly vests, caps and polaroid glasses, tapered leaders and tippet material, flotant, dry shake, and a fly box rammed to the hilt with all the seasonal chalkstream essentials. This is the outfit you can take anywhere, be it the sweeping glides of the main River Test, or the wild and intimate, little-known streams of Wiltshire and Dorset.
Harry Plunket Greene, Irish baritone and author of the timeless ‘Where the Bright Waters Meet,’ wrote fondly of his work on fly fishing and the chalkstreams, with special focus on the Bourne Rivulet and the headwaters of the world famous River Test.
Our Greene chalkstream tackle pack is a nod to Harry’s love affair with fly fishing, in particular upstream dry fly fishing in the narrow headwater streams where all he needed was one rod and a small box of flies to while away an evening on the river.
The Greene outfit has everything you need to travel light on the chalkstreams; including a lightweight fly rod, reel and line combo, a long handled net, chest pack, fishing cap, and polaroid glasses, tapered leaders and tippet material, flotant, dry shake, and a fly box with all the seasonal chalkstream essentials. This is the ultimate chalkstream fly fishing tackle pack for one, with all the essentials to get you fly fishing on the river with minimal effort.
The English chalkstreams are synonymous with immaculately maintained river banks, mown grass verges, and box fringes, all thanks to our fabulous river keepers. But there are occasions when wading is optional, advisable, or even required.
If you are planning to visit one of those wilder beats with over hanging trees and hard to reach places, then a good set of waders might just make the trip. Even where wading is not-advised, there are times when slipping a foot into the edges might just help you coax that prized trout a little closer to your net. Maybe you just want to stay warm and dry for the duration of the day!
Our wading kit gives you the flexibility to make the most of a wading beat, even when you can't bring your own. There's a set of high quality waders with thick-soled boots available in all adult sizes, a durable collapsible wading staff, and a lightweight carryall that doubles up as a changing mat to keep your feet dry. We even throw in a pair of free wading socks to keep your toes warm.
You can book the wading kit in advance on its own, or as part of a larger order, and we offer free delivery within a 20 mile radius of Stockbridge, Hampshire.
We will send you a full booking confirmation by email, plus meeting arrangments at your delivery address.
Sadly, we cannot cancel or postpone your booking under any circumstances. However, if you are unable to attend your day, please let us know at your earliest convenience and we will endeavour to resell the booking for you. If we are successful, you will be eligible for a credit to the full value of your booking, valid for 24 months, or a refund minus a 25% admin fee.
