This is the perfect course for the intermediate fly fisher. Someone who already has an understanding of the basics and wants to deepen their understanding of the subtle skills and nuanced techniques that define traditional english chalkstream fly fishing.
Rather than learning how to cast or set up from scratch, the emphasis is on refinement: reading clear water, recognising feeding behaviour, improving presentation, and making better decisions on the river.
This course is suitable for individuals and small groups, allowing plenty of time for observation, discussion, and coached fishing. You will be part of a group of upto four people, each with a similar level of experience. The sessions are held at one of our dedicated private chalkstream venues, completely secluded in the quiet Hampshire countryside, where over the course of the day you will work closely with a friendly, fully qualified instructor, covering everything you need to know to get fishing on the chalkstreams.
All tackle, equipment, and flies are provided, though you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish. Teas, coffees, and light refreshments are included, along with wellington boots in adult sizes. Our fishing cabins are fully equipped, offering comfortable facilities and a place for accompanying guests to sit and watch.
This course is for over 18s only, and for anglers wishing to explore the subject in greater depth we recommend a one to one day on Chalkstreams with a Fishing Guide.
An extended coaching course designed to give you three days of private tuition, taken at your own pace across the season.
Delivered as three full days of private tuition, the course can be taken over three consecutive days, or spread out over the season, whichever suits you.
Rather than a single concentrated private tuition, this 3-day format encourages some meaningful progression and gives you time to revisit what you learnt the day prior. Each day builds on the last, with time between sessions to reflect, and practise the casting independently if you wish. We find this is when the biggest improvements are made.
All tackle, equipment, and flies are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own setups if preferred. Teas, coffees, and light refreshments are included, along with wellington boots in adult sizes. Our fishing lodges are fully equipped, providing comfortable facilities and a place for accompanying guests to sit and watch. Picnic hampers can be added for lunches by the river.
This course is ideal for complete beginners or intermediate fly fishers who want more than a one-off lesson and who will value steady improvement and a deeper understanding of chalkstream fly fishing.
We will send you a full booking confirmation by email, along with any maps, directions, travel arrangements, and arrival instructions required, plus the contact information for your instructor.
Your instructor will come equipped with all the tackle, equipment and flies required at no extra cost.
We suggest bringing a picnic or if you prefer, we can take you to the local pub. For something special, our delightful range of riverside hampers are also available to preorder.
Gratuity is not obligatory, but always very much appreciated.
Sadly, we cannot cancel or postpone your booking under any circumstances. However, if you are unable to attend your day, please let us know at your earliest convenience and we will endeavour to resell the booking for you.
